SCHOOL SOCIAL LIFE
Our students enjoy a unique opportunity to participate in an extensive social programme prepared on a number of occasions. 14th October is the day when we all honour and show our appreciation for teachers for their contribution to widening our education and influencing our upbringing. D±browszczak celebrates this day on a regular basis in the ceremony called “Heńki” (“Henries”) The teachers in our school are nominated in a few categories whose names are carefully chosen by the students responsible for preparing the ceremony. They can be awarded for their skills and gifts, commitment to work or a sense of humour. The award named Heniek (Henry) is especially designed and created by the students involved in the preparations.
9th January is our patron’s day when another unusual ceremony is held. It is called Ja¶śki ("“Johnies”") and is entirely prepared for the teachers themselves. They are given a chance to express their admiration for the students’ versatility, originality, talent, helpfulness or diligence. Our students are presented with an exceptional reward, which is …. a colourful silk pillow and a diploma for the best.
21st March is said to be the beginning of spring. Instead of playing truant and roaming the streets in funny costumes, which is a tradition in Polish school, the students of D±browszczak eagerly and enthusiastically participate in the event called BUDA (“A very successful artistic debut”). It is an annual festival of our students’ artistic creativity. For one day the school is transformed into a stage on which all prospective singers, dancers, comedians can perform freely. The students take pleasure in demonstrating a short programme which undoubtedly proves their talents.
These are the most representative events of our school social life and they do not include all the possibilities the students have. Every year The Days of Foreign languages, Sciences, Humanistic Subjects and Biology&Chemistry are organized. Various contests, quizzes, competitions, presentations, speeches and lectures presented by the invited guests fill the students’ time on these occasions. Special days such as Valentine’s Day, Women’s Day or Children’s Day are not forgotten or neglected either.
